FEPPA 2024 - Post Event Report

The Female Pelvic Pain Association (FEPPA) successfully organized its 1^st Annual Conference on CPP (Chronic Pelvic Pain) with the theme of “Demystifying Chronic Pelvic Pain.” The conference took place on April 20^th and 21^st, 2024, at the Medanta Hospital, Gurugram, Haryana, India.

The event aimed to bring together experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals to share knowledge, discuss advancements, and promote compassionate treatment and care for patients with CPP.

Dr. Amita Jain, in collaboration with the Organizing Committee, successfully orchestrated the seamless execution of the conference. The committee comprised Dr. Vidya Bandukwalla serving as the Organizing Chairperson, Dr. Karishma Thariani and Dr. (Prof) Monika Gupta fulfilling roles as Organizing Secretaries, Dr. Tanvir Singh and Dr. Preetha R. contributing as Executive Members, and Dr. Deeksha Pandey managing responsibilities as the Treasurer. Together, their collective efforts ensured the efficient planning and operation of the conference.

The conference commenced with a lamp lighting ceremony, graced by the presence of the esteemed Guests of Honour – Mr. Pankaj Sahani, CEO, Medanta Hospital, Gurugram; Dr. Rajesh Ahlawat, Group Chairman, Medanta Hospital; Dr. Sayeba Akhter, Gynaecologist, Bangladesh; Dr. G. Karki, Gynaecologist, Nepal and Mr. Vishal Jajodia, CMD, Swati Spentose Pvt. Ltd.

The conference witnessed a significant international presence, with 6 international faculty members joining both online and offline. Their expertise and contributions enriched the scientific program, providing a global perspective on CPP management.

The conference received a total of 120 registrations for both Offline and Online (Zoom) participation, reflecting the strong interest and engagement in the field of CPP. This diverse participation from healthcare professionals, researchers, and Clinicians with special interest in Pelvic Pain contributed to a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere throughout the event.

The considerable participation of international faculty and delegates, alongside a substantial number of registrations, underscored the global significance of the FEPPA 2024 Conference on Chronic Pelvic Pain. This emphasized its pivotal role in advancing knowledge, fostering international collaborations, and advocating for optimal treatment and care for patients afflicted with CPP.

The conference encompassed a diverse array of sessions delving into multifaceted aspects of Chronic Pelvic Pain (CPP), catering to both gynaecological and urological perspectives, alongside discussions on physiotherapy, yoga, psychological dimensions, gastrointestinal considerations, and pain management strategies associated with CPP.

Day 1 commenced with an illuminating Session 1: “Introduction to Pelvic Pain,” setting the foundational understanding for attendees. Following this, Session 2 explored “Gynecological Aspects of CPP,” while Session 3 delved into “Bladder and Beyond: Urological Causes,” broadening the discourse. Session 4 intriguingly explored the enigmatic “Pelvic Floor: Friend or Foe,” and the day concluded with a refreshing insight into “Yoga in CPP.”

Day 2 continued the discourse with Session 1, delving into the sensitive topic of “Hiding Under the Sheets: Sexual Pain.” This was followed by a thought-provoking exploration of “Let’s Talk to Shrink: Psychological Aspects” in Session 2. Session 3, aptly titled “Mixed Bags,” offered a comprehensive overview of varied aspects. Session 4, “Future,” provided a forward-looking perspective, while the event concluded on a dynamic note with an interactive workshop in Session 5.

Throughout the conference, participants were immersed in a rich tapestry of knowledge exchange, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and paving the way for advancements in CPP research and treatment methodologies.

In addition to its enriching sessions, the event featured dynamic elements including a competitive abstract paper presentation and poster presentation competition. To add a touch of excitement, participants engaged in a lively Kahoot quiz, blending fun with intellectual challenge.

During the conference, FEPPA unveiled its ambitious plans for the future, announcing FEPPA 2025 to be hosted in Mumbai.

The FEPPA 2024 Conference on CPP facilitated robust knowledge exchange, showcasing cutting-edge research, diagnostic approaches, and treatment strategies. It promoted collaboration among healthcare experts and researchers, enhancing the understanding and delivery of compassionate care for CPP patients. By uniting global stakeholders, the conference served as a catalyst for sharing insights, best practices, and fostering future collaborations to advance the field of CPP.
